Search Engine Optimization is a process of choosing the most appropriate targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that this ranks your site highly in search engines so that when someone searches for specific phrases it returns your site on tops.

It basically involves fine tuning the content of your site along with the HTML and Meta tags and also involves appropriate link building process. The most popular search engines are Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, AOL and Ask Jeeves. Search engines keep their methods and ranking algorithms secret, to get credit for finding the most valuable search-results and to deter spam pages from clogging those results. A search engine may use hundreds of factors while ranking the listings where the factors themselves and the weight each carries may change continually. Algorithms can differ so widely that a webpage that ranks #1 in a particular search engine could rank #200 in another search engine. New sites need not be “submitted” to search engines to be listed. A simple link from a well established site will get the search engines to visit the new site and begin to spider its contents. It can take a few days to even weeks from the referring of a link from such an established site for all the main search engine spiders to commence visiting and indexing the new site.

If you are unable to research and choose keywords and work on your own search engine ranking, you may want to hire someone to work with you on these issues.

Search engine marketing and promotion companies, will look at the plan for your site and make recommendations to increase your search engine ranking and website traffic. If you wish, they will also provide ongoing consultation and reporting to monitor your website and make recommendations for editing and improvements to keep your site traffic flow and your search engine ranking high. Normally your search engine optimization experts work with your web designer to build an integrated plan right away so that all aspects of design are considered at the same time.

Analytics and determining all facets of what they mean are an integral part of improving web site experience and action conversions! For non-commercial statistical packages, AWSTATS and Google Analytics are a regular and daily recipient of visits from me.

I like AWSTATS, because it compiles its report based on server logs. Google Analytics is a great swag also, even though it is estimated that 5-10% of site visits are not recorded accurately if site visitors have Javascript disabled. Well, here or there, stats and analytics can vary across packages… even commercial!

At any rate, without getting too granular, the purpose of this post is to mention that you can do BASIC things such as Search Engine Optimization to increase organic positioning in Search Engines and thus, increase traffic!

As you can see in the image above, the Blue Section Represents Search Engine Traffic to this blog. I always try to optimize:

Meta Keywords & Descriptions

Title Tags

Keyword Density

as any extra hits to the site, represents a possible new supporter or eventually customer…

In our last post, we aimed for Google Inclusion. As of today, we are in Google.

In our article Wu-Yi Tea Experiment Post 3, we aimed to get our experimental site WuYi.TV included in Google. Seemingly, inclusion was slower than normal until we pulled out the big guns. We linked to it from a few of our “secret” high PR sites yesterday. Like clockwork, WuYi.TV has life in Google’s search engine.

WuYi.TV Indexed In Google.com

So, these sites that we linked from, are not really super secret. They just happened to be well-respected web sites that we own, with high Google PR value. We pick the one with the most relevant content to this landing page and strategically link to Wuyi.tv.

We suggest:

One way Link: Meaning that reciprocal linking for SEO benefit may have little value in creating WUYI.tv as an Authority site.

Linking in Context: Writing an article, and placing links within the content, is an effective way to link. This prevents Google from pinging you as if you were buying links in Bad directories or link farms.

Our next phases of the experiment include optimizing our copy and Meta Tags. Now we have to try to get ranked for coveted keywords. WhiteNewJersey states that Dot TV domains don’t rank well. We will see soon.

Stay tuned!

Having a website these days may be somewhat of having a pocket full of pennies or nickels. While a pocket full of coins is valuable to me, it is sometimes just not enough to add up… you know?

So, the point is, that having a website these days is NOT enough. You must drive qualified traffic to your site to fulfill its purpose.

Here is a description of Search Engine Optimization…… per Wikipedia…

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

As a marketing strategy for increasing a site’s relevance, SEO considers how search algorithms work and what people search for. SEO efforts may involve a site’s coding, presentation, and structure, as well as fixing problems that could prevent search engine indexing programs from fully spidering a site. Other, more noticeable efforts may include adding unique content to a site, ensuring that content is easily indexed by search engine robots, and making the site more appealing to users. Another class of techniques, known as black hat SEO or spamdexing, use methods such as link farms and keyword stuffing that tend to harm search engine user experience. Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques and may remove them from their indices.

The initialism “SEO” can also refer to “search engine optimizers” or “Search Engine Optimizician”, terms adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Search engine optimizers may offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign. Because effective SEO may require changes to the HTML source code of a site, SEO tactics may be incorporated into web site development and design. The term “search engine friendly” may be used to describe web site designs, menus, content management systems, URLs, and shopping carts that are easy to optimize.

New division of Host Gator enables customers to host on multiple C classes

HOUSTON, TX. June 28, 2007 – SEO Hosting, a division of Host Gator web hosting, announced today the official launch of their search engine optimization services hosting services. In addition to all the expected SEO capabilities, this new service enables customers to optimize their web sites for search engines by hosting on multiple C classes.

The new service stemmed from customers regularly asking Host Gator for multiple C Class capabilities because of their belief that search engines will penalize sites that have the same C class and are linking to each other. With multiple C Class capabilities, customers no longer have to work with different hosting providers to overcome this problem and can consolidate all their sites on SEO Hosting.

SEO Hosting is on Host Gator’s network with The Planet where sites are on servers at all four of The Planet’s data centers in Dallas, TX and are accessible via a fully meshed and redundant Certified Cisco Network featuring ten backbone providers.

Examples of some C Class hosting plans include:

-5 C Classes for $7 per C-Class

-30 C Classes for $5.75 per C-Class

-50 C Classes for $4.75 per C-Class

Every hosting plan includes cPanel and WHM Control Panel, separate C Class IPs and nameservers, Linux hosting with Apache, unlimited domains, FTP accounts and MySQL databases. In addition, all hosting plans are covered by 24x7x365 support with instant backups and no contracts required. SEO Hosting is offering a thirty day money back guarantee with instant free setup for new customers.

?With the importance of high organic rankings on web search engines, businesses are looking to maximize every advantage that will help them improve their results,? says Brent Oxley, president of Host Gator. ?We found that companies were signing up with multiple locations in order to host different C Classes. SEO Hosting allows these customers the ability to consolidate all their accounts onto a single server and host, saving them time and money.

?The initial response has been extremely encouraging, and we expect the strong demand to continue. Customers are also reassured that SEO Hosting is backed by Host Gator?s reputation for top-notch service and support.?

SEO Hosting plans to offer useful tools in the future to its customers as well as provide search engine optimization advice from guest experts on its blog.

About SEO Hosting
