WU-Yi Tea Experiment POST 3: Creating a Simple Site for SEO Aging

For today’s continuation of the experimentation for WuYi.tv, we set up a simple Wordpress site to start aging for SEO purposes.

For the sake of promoting an affiliate product, we think Wordpress offers a great option.

  1. We can Blog our way to SEO heaven, dynamically adding new pages.
  2. Wordpress’s native ping and trackback system allows incoming links from blogs that pick the content up.
  3. Naturally, and with key SEO plugins, Wordpress offers a strong concept of Search Engine Optimization.
  4. As seen below, with Fantastico, powered in this case by Hostgator, we can install a Wordpress blog within 5 minutes!  (This one took 2 minutes :-) )

So, in a previous WuYi Post, we explained how we changed the DNS over to point to our server space at Hostgator.  Below, I give you screen shots and explanations of what the steps were to install the site.

Step 1:  DNS resolution confirmation: We make sure that when you type in www.wuyi.tv, that you are getting our server space.  This is confirmed as we can see below.

Step 1: Wuyi.tv resolution of DNS to Server Space

Step 2:  Log into Hostgator’s panel and go to Fantastico.  ( We talk about the benefits of Fantastico in a previous post.  Click here to read)

Step 6:  After installation, a verification screen on Step 3 of 3 of the process pops up.  At that time, we can open a new browser and surf to Wuyi.tv.

Step 7:  Get spidered by Google.

The last step to starting an SEO approach is to get the google bots to visit and index the page.  So many professed “Internet gurus” brag about getting a site indexed in 24 hours.

It is really not that hard to do.  Sorry I busted their bubble.

Getting listed in Google

  • For wordpress, make a post about a related topic on a well-trafficked web site.  Use a trackback to that post.  If the author of that blog approves the trackback, you will have a link back to your site.
  • Find a SIMILAR topic on any website with sizable respect and get a link back to your site.

For us, we will link to www.wuyi.tv.  (THERE JUST DID IT) from this blog, as it is spidered well.  We will also look add a post on www.BlackAtlanta.com.

Tomorrow (24 hours), we will test to see if Google Indexed it.  At that time, we will say… “We told you it was not hard to get indexed in Google.  “  :-)

This is awesome information, I know just where to place this information……………
My experience with SEO and Wordpress has been interesting. This is far from something I wear with pride but I began indexing on Google immediately and since almost the beginning a HUGE chunk of my traffic has been coming for the term “mandingo” or “mandingo fantasy” and alot of my SEO traffic is of that nature, traffic that has very little to do with my blog.
Though about half my traffic comes from SEOs it does very little to bring me the audience I am trying to serve for the most part.
Are you gonna setup the sitemaps early on as well?

Mandingo? Interesting. You know, the connotation of this is of course Adult in nature.

Adult SEO is another topic of discussion. However, true internet marketers have studied the trends of adult site marketing. They are real trendsetters in gaining traffic. ANOTHER TOPIC as I state.

SEO and traffic is a great thing, as that means your traffic is FREE.
But you may be able to optimize your posts better in your keywords and title tags. This will hopefully help you with Google being able to associate your keywords with your content better and thus make your organic traffic more valuable to you.

Yes, our sitemaps will be created. We will upload Google sitemap, but even before then, we can get indexed readily.

The problem is my niche - African immigrants isn’t that heavy into search engines quite yet, we still spend great deals of our time either on community sites or on sites that weren’t created for our interests without looking for each other.
To be honest I have never studied adult Internet marketers but considering they are number 2 after social networks (and were number one before they came) it definitely might be worth it.
The article discusses relationships and is satirical so am sure most people who find the article are quite disappointed that it isn’t what they thought it was.

Mwangi, you have experienced a case of SEO that I call “SEO Serendipity”

I wrote an article on this located here: http://blackinternetmarketing.com/statistical-seo-serendipity/-/Black-Internet-Marketing/2008/06/15/

It is basically one in which I describe being found for something else in the search engines, but being able to creatively use the traffic for something beneficial to me.

For that page, people may be looking for other experiences… Not necessarily adult, when they search for “mandigo” .

To test and possibly convert on that notion, I suggest you trying the following.

    1. If they are looking for Mandigo the Movie, then join Amazon as an affiliate and market the following movie: http://www.amazon.com/Mandingo-James-Mason/dp/B0016LFG4M/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1227292789&sr=8-1

    2. If they are looking for dating and love… then market Match.com, True.com or if you are racier, an AdultFriendFinder. Dating is a GREAT payment for affiliates, on average paying between $15 and $60 per conversion.

Test and see if you can convert and if so, then you have experienced Serendipity via SEO :-)

That’s a brilliant idea. Do you think I should put banners at the end of posts, create a list and send them a list of interracial dating sites etc etc

As users to that page may instantly “Bounce” if they don’t find what they are looking for, I would find a creative way to weave a content box, or banner ABOVE the fold and highly visible.

You can do this in existing content/copy of your post. IF you don’t, you risk still losing the site traffic/visitors and NOT converting if they choose not to scroll down. Sound feasible?

Indeed it does…definitely something to think about. Thanks for the idea, something I never would have thought of…….
